This tutorial assumes a basic knowledge of Paint Shop Pro.  I believe the skill level to be at the "Intermediate" Level.  Knowledge of PSP tools and Letter Creator is required.  Just be sure to read every step carefully and always pay special attention to what layer you are working on.

  • Tools Needed:
  • PSP ( Paint Shop Pro ) - I used 9 but you should be able to use other versions
  • 3 Graphics of choice ( Preferably 1 wide and 2 tall).
  • A Font of your choice.
  • My Template Zip
  • No Outside Plug-In's or Filters needed.....Yay!

Please Note All settings stay the same unless otherwise noted...Thank You

Let's Begin....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1.  Open your graphics in PSP, duplicate once (shift D) and close originals.  With your dropper tool, choose 2 colors from your graphics and set as your background & foreground.  It doesn't matter which color goes where, but you want 2 colors that will work well with all 3 graphics.
2.  Open my Template in PSP, duplicate once (shift D) and close original.
3.  Select the magic wand tool ( Default Settings )
4.  In your layers pallet make sure the " Thin Line " layer is active.  With your magic wand click inside the thin line.  Selections/Modify/Feather at 1
5.  Flood Fill it with one of the colors.  Keep in mind this will be the same color we will use around the graphics and also for the Font.
6.  Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel with these settings:  Bevel 2, Width 5, Smoothness 0, Depth 15, Ambience & Shininess 0, Color White, Angle 315, Intensity 50, & Elevation 30.  Select None...
7.  In your layers pallet make the " Wide Line " layer active.  Select magic wand tool, click inside the wide line.  Selections/Modify/Feather at 1
8. Flood Fill it with the other color you chose.  Effects/ Texture Effects/ Blinds with these settings:  Width 4, Opacity 50, You can use either Black or White as your color.  You can even use your other color if you like, try different ones and see what looks best.  Horizontal - Unchecked & Light from left/top - Checked.  Select None...
13. Image/ Resize as needed...  With your Mover Tool position your graphic how you like in the box selected.  Selections/ Invert ...Edit/ Cut
14. Select None... Adjust/ Sharpness/ Sharpen - if needed.
Note: If you didn't resize your graphic small enough to fit inside the template.  You are still going to have some part of the graphic surrounding the template.  This is ok - sometimes I only use part of a graphic.  We can get rid of this by selecting our " Crop " tool. Default settings...While holding down the left mouse button Select the whole template and click the check mark in the upper left corner.  This will not crop the template it will only remove any extra graphic that was left over around the template.
