Porcelain Frame Scrap Tag/Header

Things Needed For This Tutorial
  • Paint Shop Pro (This is done using 9), but should be able to be done in newer versions.
  • A tube or two of your choice...nothing to wide.
  • Xero - Porcelain....Optional Image Effect found Here
  • WSL_Mask12 Here...Place this into your Mask folder before opening PSP.
  • My Simple Scrap Kit Here or you may use one of your choice.
Please Note..All Settings remain the same unless otherwise noted
Also please note this is a long tutorial!  Just take your time and save often.
Let's get started.....
1.  Open all the Items in my Scrap Kit....Open your Tube(s)

Note:  If the color of my Scrap items doesn't work with your Image...You can Colorize them...Just go to Adjust/Hue and Saturation/Colorize and play with it until you get a color you like with your image.  Once you have it set...apply this to each item of the Scrap Kit.

Or use another kit that works better....just have fun with it.

2.  Open a New Raster Image 500 X 500.  Flood Fill it with a color of your choice.

3.  Make "Paper 3" active....Edit/Copy...Minimize it for now.

4.  Make your 500 X 500 Image active....Edit/Paste as a new layer.

Layers...Load/Save Mask...Load Mask From Disk

Layers/Merge/Merge Group....

5.  Make "Paper 1" active....Select your crop tool.

Type in the settings above...and Click the check mark

6.  Edit/Copy....You can close this out now.

Edit/Paste it onto the 500 X 500 image....Image/Resize at 80%, Smart Size.. make sure resize all layers is not checked.

7.  Adjust/Sharpen....Image/Rotate/Free Rotate with the following settings:

8.  Effects/3D Effects/drop shadow with the following settings:

9.  Make "Paper 2" active....Select your crop tool....Apply the same settings as before...

Edit/Copy....You can close this out now.

10. Edit/Paste it onto the 500 X 500 image....Image/Resize at 80%, Smart Size.. make sure resize all layers is not checked.

Adjust/Sharpen....Image/Rotate/Free Rotate to the left....at 12 Degrees.

Apply the drop shadow....

11.  Make the "Frame" active....Edit/Copy...You can close this out now.

Back to your 500 X 500 Image...Edit/Paste as a New Layer

12.  Image/Resize at 75%, Smart Size....make sure resize all layers is not checked....Adjust/Sharpen

Apply the drop shadow....

13.  Make your mover tool active....Left click on your frame layer.

Push the up arrow on your keyboard 10 times....this will move the frame into the correct postion.

14.  Make the "Paper Clips" active....with your selections tool....select one. 

Edit/Copy....You can close this out now.

15.  Back to your 500 X 500 Image...Edit/Paste as a New Layer

Image/Rotate/Free Rotate to the left....at 15 Degrees.

Adjust/Sharpen....Move it to the top right of the frame.

16.  Make your Freehand Selection tool active....Make a selection around your paper clip like so:

17.  Selections/Modify/Feather at 3....Edit/Cut....Select None

This should give the look of holding the frame to the paper below it.

18.  Layers/Merge/Merge Visible....You should now have something like this:

19.  Make your tube of choice active.  Edit/Copy...Minimize it for now.

20.  Edit/Paste as a new layer....Resize and Sharpen if needed. 

21.  Place your tube so that the bottom is sitting on the frame. 

align=Once you have it where you want it.  Select your selections tool ....Set at rectangle...select the portions of the tube that you want to remove.  We want it to appear as thought it is coming out of the frame.

Once you have all portions selected.

Selections/Modify/Feather at 3....Edit/Cut....Select None 

Isn't that cool!  I love this effect....Apply the drop shadow....if you like.

Layers/Merge/Merge Visible

22.  Make the "Film Frame" active....Edit/Copy...You can close this out now.

Back to your 500 X 500 Image...Edit/Paste as a New Layer

23.  Image/Resize at 75%, Smart Size....make sure resize all layers is not checked....Adjust/Sharpen

Image/Rotate/Free Rotate to the right....at 10 Degrees.

24.  Make your mover tool active....Left click on your film frame layer.

Move it into the following position...

25.  Make your magic wand tool active....hold the "shift key" down on your keyboard and left click inside the 3 spaces of the frame.

Selections/Modify/Expand by 2....Selections/Invert

26.  Make "Paper 3" active....Edit/Copy....You can close this out now.

Back to your 500 X 500 Image...Edit/Paste as a New Layer

27.  Edit/Cut....Select None.  Layers/Arrange/Move down

28.  Make your tube of choice active.  Edit/Copy...Minimize it for now.

29.  Make the film frame layer active....

Make your magic wand tool active....Click the first space in the frame.

Selections/Modify/Expand by 2....Selections/Invert

30.  Edit/Paste as a New Layer....with your mover tool place the tube where you want it.  Resize if needed....Edit/Cut....Select None

Repeat steps (28 - 30) with the other 2 spaces in the frame....selecting a different part of your tube.  If you make a mistake...you can always undo.

Note:  I mirrored my tube before I copied it into the filmstrip...it's your choice if you want to do this.

31.  In your layer pallet...Place a Red X over the film strip, the paper3 layer, and the bottom layer.  Leaving your tube layers open...Layers/Merge/Merge Visible

32.  Open all layers again...move the tube layer below the paper 3 layer.

Make the paper 3 layer active....in the layer pallet change the blend mode to: Overlay

and reduce the opacity to 50.

33.  You can now add the drop shadow to your filmstrip layer...if you like.

Layers/Merge/Merge Visible....you should now have something like this...

Almost there...hang in there..lol

34.  Make the "Bow" active....Edit/Copy...you can close it out now.

Back to your 500 X 500 Image...Edit/Paste as a New Layer

35.  Image/Resize at 60%, Smart Size....make sure resize all layers is not checked....Adjust/Sharpen

Image/Rotate/Free Rotate to the right....at 12 Degrees.

36.  With your mover tool ....See my header for the correct postion.

37.  Make the "Flower" active....Edit/Copy...you can close it out now.

Back to your 500 X 500 Image...Edit/Paste as a New Layer

38.  Image/Resize at 40%, Smart Size....make sure resize all layers is not checked....Adjust/Sharpen

Apply  the dropshadow....

39.  With your mover tool ....See my header for the correct postion.

Layers/Merge/Merge all flatten...

40.  Finally go to Effects/Plug Ins/Xero/Porcelain with default settings.

 

Wow...you made it to the end.  Sorry it's so long....I think it's worth it, though.

Add your watermark....and we are done with the Tag/Header.  If you are using it for a Tag you may want to resize....like to use 65%.  Now if you are using it for a header, no need to resize.
